Hell in a Cell (2014) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It took place on October 26, 2014 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It was the sixth annual Hell in a Cell event. It was the second pay-per-view of 2014 not to feature the WWE World Heavyweight Championship being contested, as current champion Brock Lesnar was not scheduled for the event (the first being Payback, although then-champion Daniel Bryan was present at Payback but didn't defend the title). Eight matches were contested on the main card while one match took place on the pre-show which was streamed live on the WWE Network. The card had a double main event (similar to WrestleMania VII). John Cena defeated Randy Orton, in their second encounter inside the Cell (their first encounter being the 2009 event, which saw Orton victorious), to secure a future Championship match against current champion Brock Lesnar while Seth Rollins defeated Dean Ambrose in the main event to culminate their feud.
SummerSlam (2014) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It took place on August 17, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It was the twenty-seventh annual SummerSlam, and the sixth consecutive one held at the Staples Center. Its pay-per-view promotional poster was the first to incorporate the new WWE logo. Eight professional wrestling matches were scheduled on the event's main card and one match took place on the pre-show, which was streamed on the WWE Network. The main event saw Brock Lesnar defeat John Cena to become a four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This was the only SummerSlam event where all titles contested changed hands.
